I just ordered a "few" components from AC, but it was a royal PITA and I'm technically in Europe! It wasn't the language barrier that was the pain, it's the fact that they don't accept credit card or paypal payments - only cheque or money transfer to their bank (slooowww).

Aqua Computer, it's 2006 FFS! Get with the program! You are a computer hardware shop of sorts, so use the technology available..

The first person that says low flow by name, low flow by nature gets a kicking! :p

So where are you? IT-Trade or even Sharka would have been better. With Sharka they take CC's and they routinely ship all over the world plus you would have benefited from the exchange rates. :D

BTW, did they also make you pay their bank receiving charges?
 
Top Nurse, you are immune from a kicking since you were so kind to send me a multi-tool, plus you are a lady ;).

I'm in the UK, so getting a US distributor to get my bits would have been silly :p . My bank charged me £21 for the foreign transfer - if AC try to charge me at their end they can take a long walk off a short pier. My bank did mention about a possible charge at their end, have to wait and see. All I need now is for customs to open it and get their cut!

I could have used LeftClicks, but their prices are ridiculous, have a piss poor selection and never have anything in stock anyway.
 
Wow! They are some sky high charges.

I would have thought with the EU and all that jazz that bank charges should have been very minimal. Is that because the UK isn't in the Euro ?

That's definitely put me off ordering from German places that need bank transfer for payment. Might cost me less since I'm in a euro counry though.
 
To be fair, I could have saved that £21 by sending a cheque - but that would have taken ages to get there, clear and then ship the parts here.

The bank charges are so high because the banks make a mint out of it, pure and simple. Wish I owned one!

It didn't put me off buying from AC, but that was because of the number of items I bought at once. I wouldn't have bothered if the item I was buying was only a couple of quid or so, I would have taken my business elsewhere.

This AC shit better be good!
 
Did they have it all in stock when you bought it? If not it could be months before you get it...
 
How can you tell if they have it in stock or not? It doesn't say anything on their site. Do you have to wait for them to email you after you send the money?

Shit, after looking at the AC forum with the stories of people waiting months for their components, and the moderators quashing any thread that complains of such, I'm filled with a little buyers remorse. Time will tell if that is justified.

I think most of that was from a long time ago. IT Trade usually has everything in stock.
The only people that do not like it, are those who do not own it. Their gear works very well.

He bought from AC and from what I hear they still have that niggling problem of not returning e-mails about stuff they don't have in stock. :rolleyes: Hope you didn't order a 7800 or 7900 waterblock...

My suggestion is to pick up the phone and call them directly. A good time is between 1400-1700 local German time. Just say "spechen de English" and someone should help you out. :)

I would call first before placing an international order with AC. With IT-Trade you can chat via ICQ or via e-mail.

I ordered 2 X1900 Aquagratix, cuplex XT, twinplex pro, 2 aquadrive micros and a few other bits and pieces. These are pretty 'common' items so hopefully have them in stock or are making them right now! My parallel loops are about to be realised!

It will be easy to get all the tubing routed, but the flow rate is bad enough without splitting it up 6 ways. The performance is not going to be very good, only as good as air if he's lucky.

The guy is using 2 D5s. Methinks there'll be at least a fair bit of flow running through the system!

Sure, once it's split 6 ways it won't be as much, but I'd be willing to bet he'll get pretty decent flow, definitely enough for the AC gear.
 
theseeker, it's not patience, it's being too busy with other stuff and trickling feeding this build with the funds!

My biggest issue will be if the radiator can dissipate the heat, I may have to add another. As for flow, the D5's are more than sufficient (like Demon says) and the parallelising (word?) of the circuit means far less overall resistance/back pressure to each flow path. I would love to add those Swissflow flow sensors to actually put some figures to the circuit, but at 50euros each, I'll pass at this time - I'd need 6!

I can't wait for it to be built to see if it works like I think it should. Depending on AC's delivery time scales it should be within 2 weeks.
 
I know it would greatly distract from the aesthetic value of your well thought out system, but I must say I am very happy with the external Innovatek RAD. Of course, if you did need more dissapation you could always hide it, so to speak.
 
I first thought about external rad boxes when thinking of ideas for my build. The parallel idea took me off on a tangent (oxymoron ;) ) and that bred the design as you see it now.

I was thinking of sleek, separate and easily connectable rad boxes, as many as you could fit on your desk, stacked up a bit like hi-fi separates. The more you want to cool, the more you add. The pc box would sit at the top or the side. Might be my next worklog!

I emailed Aqua Computer to ask when my order would be shipped, after Top Nurse told me not to hold my breath on the X1900 blocks...

They replied saying it was shipped on the 24th, so I should receive my bounty in the next few days!

I had better order the rest of the water cooling stuff and make my reservoir soon!

All the bad publicity must have encouraged them that answering e-mails is a good thing. However, I still think that there are others who don't even get that courtesy if some item isn't available for shipment.

Considering I'm going to do the carving up, the end result might be quite comical! Drill and tap the plexi top for another 1/8" connector, drill a hole, grind a channel and make a 'wall' on the mid piece- should be easy!

Like I said on another thread, my AC stuff arrived today but I wasn't in, so I need to wait until tomorrow. Arrgh! Looks like AC have plenty of stock of the X1900 coolers, you folk over the pond may have to wait until they're shipped I guess.
 
I think you should consider doing with a Bridgeport mill. Also you may want to consider having the middle plate re-plated after you are done machining.
 
The only tool that I have that will make any dent in the metal is a demel, unless I farm the job out to a machine shop. Regarding the plating, what would happen if I didn't get it plated? Since the centre section of the block is chromed brass, will removing some of the plating do something evil in or to the block?

I doubt making the Cuplex into a 3-port block is going to be hard. Obtain one of them brass tops, drill. Drill a hole through the 'jet plate', toss in a barb, and go nuts.
 
Modifying it's not hard if you have the right tools, like a milling machine and 1/8"BSPP tap. I don't have these, but I know a man who does. Here's the thread I'll resurrect.
