I am going to start a new system build shortly using a:
asus a8n32, opteron 170, 2x evga 7900gtCO, wd 320 se16, antec tpII 550.
I want to make it a long term overclock rig - looking for 2.6 - 2.7 out of the opty(got a zalman
9500 and lian-li b-60II for the cooling) - wondering - should I get ddr400 memory with tighter timings for this rig or go with ddr500 for this configuration? I will be using 2x - 1gig sticks. Thanks for your help!

What kind of a budget do you have to work with for the memory?

Some of the best PC4000 DDR you're going to find in a 2GB pair is Mushkin's Redline XP PC4000.

Personally I do prefer GSkill when it comes to overclocking memory...but it's not nearly as easy to come across.

Honestly, check around [H] and www.xtremesystems.org/forums to see what you can find for feedback on different ram...'cus there's a lot of choices out there, and it's too tough to just narrow it down to a general category like DDR500 or DDR400.

Thanks for the replies! Budget is not too much of a problem, - Will buy the brand that seems to have the best reviews - just wondering if 400 mem wil have enough headroom for OCing
this particular config or if ddr500 mem is the way to go. Thanks again!

no problem man...GSkill has been doing great things as of late, and I've had some VERY nice experiences with them. I'd check out XS to see what some people are saying about some of the later memory modules, as it's been awhile since I've had some decent ram.
