Is there anyway to speed up or optimize windows media player for better sound quality? I've read articles on how to do it with winamp and I thought it might be possible to do something like that with wmp. I am using onboard sound on my nf3 with Logitech z-5300e speakers and I use windows media audio lossless format for my music.

Don't worry about it. If you're concerned about sound quality, start with some better speakers, then move on to the soundcard, and then Media Player.

uninstall all your codecs and try to get the newest ffdshow from free-codecs.com

I think the best way to optimize Windows Media Player is to modify the windows install cd to not install it in the first place and instead install foobar or download it at www.foobar2000.org and use kernel streaming or ASIO and start ripping your CDs into .flac files (flac.sourceforge.net).
