Opteron vs Xeon? Budget server

What do you think... just need input as to which is more stable. No overclocking.

Dual Core Intel® Xeon® E3110, 3.0 GHz, 6MB Cache, 1333MHz FSB

vs

Dual Core AMD® Opteron™ 1216; 2.4GHz,2X1MB Cache
OR
Dual Core AMD® Opteron™ 1214; 2.2GHz,2X1MB Cache
OR
Dual Core AMD® Opteron™ 1212; 2.0GHz,2X1MB Cache

what do you think?
 
IMO, stability is much more a factor of the supporting chipset and motherboard than the CPU.

I recently built a server around the Xeon 3120 and Tyan S5211G2NR motherboard, running Win2k3 Server. Couldn't be happier.
 
Out of those the Xeon is clearly faster.

Given it is a single socket server, it will behave similarly to a desktop.Thus you need 15-25% more frequency for Opteron to catch the Xeon.
