What advantages to the UltraSPARC processors have over the Opterons in a file serving/heavy LAN-based network? Both are running Solaris 10 and have similar hardware configurations. Help?
I would say slim to none. File serving is not very processor intensive; a great IO subsystem , lots of memory, and a fast network interface will be your main factors.
