I was just browsing newegg's processor selection, and they have several opteron's listed as socket 939 processors. Is this correct? if so, will these run in a standard 939 board, such as the Abit KN8-SLI?
 
Yes and Yes

Those are just Athlons in disguise. If your board supports them (it should - check manufacturer's website) then get one. They are made of the "better"silicon than the Athlons and are tested more rigorously than their Athlon counterparts.

Overall summary (incase you missed it): Thay are Athon or Athlon X2s that are better quality and better tested.
