Ok so I'm pretty much in love with this processor.

I hit the HTT wall on this board at 274x10. I really need better ram to run a higher divisor, ram at 183 right now = kinda slow. This is still on the retail heatsink and stock voltage.

I really wanna try the OCWbeta1 bios, but I have no floppy drive. Does anyone know if you can use a USB floppy drive to flash your bios? Can you use one of the winflash programs for any .bin file?

Temps are still really good at 39C idle / 51C load. Still ordered the Tuniq Tower 120 monster to see how far this puppy will go, I will update once it gets here and I get it installed. Luckily My CM Stacker will have plenty of room for it hehe.

EDIT: oh btw, this is a CCBWE 0546 XPMW stepping retail Opteron 170

So 2.74GHz on stock voltage and stock cooling is bad? Mine must be horrible then ;)

Get the ocworkbench bios for the board, it rids you of the 274 bug from what ive read.

NO no, not bad at all, I'm pretty sure I mentioned the love factor right off the bat, Im just pretty sure I can go further and benefit quite a bit from faster ram too.

I can't seem to get mine stable at 2.7ghz. I've only tried with voltages up to 1.5v. I don't really wanna take it any higher than 1.5

I wouldn't like trying higher than 1.5v either. How are your temps? Time to upgrade your cooling?

I guess I just got lucky with my chip. Only bad thing is it makes me wanna spend a lot more money on a new vid card, ram, and hard drive, to make it a gaming beast.

*Waits patiently for next paycheck*

Mine hits 52C max during priming.

From what I've heard that's an ok temp so I'm gonna leave the cooling alone.

i also have a 0546xpmw and it runs at 2.95 w/1.6v running into it but i dont feel comfortable with those volts so i run it at 2.8 with 1.475v 24/7

if ur running 2.7 with stock volts, u got a very good chip.
