I currently have my Opteron 170 at 2.8. This is accomplished w/ 284x10, memory at 166(234mhz after oc), and the core voltage at 1.45 bios(as low as 1.408 w/ vdroop). What i am wondering is how far i can put the voltage up to try to hit 3.0? I have a scythe andy samuri that keeps the processor nice and cool in my 7 fan CM690

I was able to push my Opteron 170 to about 2.65, my 175 to about 2.75 each at 1.50 volts.
The guy i sold my 175 to, ended up pushing 1.65 volts (on water) and hit 3Ghz stable.

Hope that helps, oh yeah, this was on a DFI SLI-DR board (non venus)

1.5 is fine is long as the cooling is adequate. Been pushing it nearly 2 years 24/7 with no ill effects.

2.7 wound up being my wall (at a reasonable voltage at least)...I bet you could get a bit more out of it with a voltage bump.

Running @1.5 now at 2.9. What temp should i not go over, its hit 62*c max
That's pretty close to the upper threshold...I wouldn't keep it that hot all the time if that's the load temp at that voltage.

Maybe you can hit something between 2.8 and 2.9 at a notch less voltage. It's not like 100mhz will make a real world performance difference anyway, so it's not worth risking thermal problems.

Check airflow and all that jazz naturally, can always help some..
