Hi

I recently got an Opteron 146, and I have been trying to over clock it using Eclipse's excellent guide. Here are my results so far.

However, I currently have the ram running on a 1:2 divider which means it is running at 142mhz. If i raise the divider any more, the computer will crash. Is it possible that my memory does not like running on any divider except 1:2?

Also I have a few general questions: Those of you that overclock, do you keep your computer overclocked all the time, or do you only overclock for gaming? Also, what is the max temperature for the chipset? mine is getting to a toasty 50C.

Don't worry about chipset temperature unless it goes to 60c+

I keep my CPU overclocked 24/7, but my video card is set to change clocks in 3D Mode to 590/590, to extend the life of the card, because I worry about it dying from too high of a clock.

Are you running the stock cooler on the GTO2? I have the GTO2, but I can only get to 570/580.

Stock cooler with Arctic Silver 5, although it didn't help any.

Quake 4 stable is 590/590, but in everything else I can run up to 600/600 perfectly fine without any artifacts. And I can benchmark up to 618/614.

Wow, nice. I guess I got a bad one.
Don't say that... because if it does stock speeds, then it's perfectly fine.

I don't buy a Ford, expecting a McLaren.

ilikecake: you're not telling us what memory you have. Your sig says "some crappy corsair stuff"..... that doesnt tell us what speed it is; i assume PC3200.

That would make its stock speed 200mhz

You may have to bump the cpu voltage to get the memory controller to handle it. Might try bumping up the LDT voltage too.

Fair enough, but I can get a faster stock card for that price. I was hoping for a good overclocking card to get more bang for the buck.

I have the exact same problem, I have to keep my divider at 1/2 or else crash, although I really don't care that much though, I don't do enough to warrant more expensive memory

Oops, sorry. It is Corsair value PC3200. Stock timings are 2.5-3-2-5. I tried relaxing the timings as far as 3-3-5-8 with no luck. I also tried upping the core voltage by .05V, but that seemed to make the system less stable.
