Hey guys. Putting together a new PC for my mom. She's a small business owner. She'll be using typical MS office type software, a specialized database program, photoshop, and video editing. This is what I got so far. I'm struggling with the video card. She's definitely not playing any games, but does need the Processing power, storage, and memory to keep up with the video/photo stuff. Budget is not an issue, but I obviously don't want to break her bank.

I need the following:

1. Suggesting on Video Card
2. what Thermal Paste should I go with
3. I also need some sort Card reader i can put in the front bay under the Blue Ray DVDRW

Artic Silver 5 ...goood stuff IMHO

Also better power supplies out there for less money....
also the memory you listed is only for 16GB($259)

Video Card: Cheapest *NEW* 1050/1050Ti you can get. If you wind up about $50-80 under budget, kick it to a 1060.
Thermal Paste: Arctic Silver 5 works just fine.
Card Reader: Pick one from the list. They're relatively inexpensive.
CPU: Spend the extra $30 for the K-variant. ESPECIALLY if you're providing your own HSF. Higher base clock speed.
Motherboard: Wrong board. 8700/8700K aren't X99 compatible.

As someone else noted. Memory recommendations on PCHound are borked.
When you specify 32GB 2x16GB it links you to a multi-stick kit for smaller memory sizes. Like 2x8 or 4x4. Even if the PCHound link says 32GB.


Here's a slightly different build (again, memory is borked, so subtract the $90 for it).

You can go with this memory instead.

Yes, it's WAY more expensive. That's because it's the right SIZE memory.
Yet another reason NOT to go 64GB up front ($700 in memory in a $1000 system?)

So, you're looking at about $1500 in parts, software, etc.
Tack on tax and shipping (if it's not free) and ignore any rebates (up front).
So you're looking at about $1750 all told to your door.
