I've got a Opteron 170 chip on order and now need to chose the memory to go with it. I don't know that I can afford Eclipses normal recommendation of:

The Crucial BallistiX PC4000 Tracers are _the_ best, no doubt. I love them! 2x1gig is sooo sweet!
 
i have 2x512mb sticks of ballistix in my rig being oc'ed as we speak.. it's awesome when it comes to oc'ing (my sticks do just under 260mhz stable at 2.5-2-2 with 2.8v and around 300mhz with 3-3-3), just make sure you keep the sticks cool with a fan
if you get em, i'd try to get em from newegg, because i'm almost certain you will get double sided sticks instead of the single that's floating around

Thanks Eclipse, but I was sorta trying to avoid Newegg because they now charge shipping to TN. Great service though :(

Anyway to check the part number to determine if its single / double sided that you know of?
 
the pc3200 with 5b G has a part number of 47072, and there is .16TG on the end of the model number on the stick or anti-static bag

the pc4000 with 5b G is 47073 ;)

if you order from crucial, make sure you request that you get the above and not D
 
Great info, thanks. Oh - are you running PC3200 or 4000 in your system? I'm guessing the 3200 since you knew the label on the anti-stat bag.
