Just received my C2D, with the following imprint:

L626A166

Here comes the questions...
1) What can you gents tell me about this chip, as well as if it has a decent history of overclocking?

2) I was looking at the EVGA 680i, but given the current events, I'm very tempted to hold off until I see a new release of drivers that resolve sound, RAID, and general stability. Good idea, of take a chance?

3) What looking at the OCZ VX Alpha chips for ram, but I really don't want to spend that much, as well as recent reviews have show a trend of minimal head room. Would prefer to stick with B6-3 bin, given thier history of overclocking. What suggestions do you guys have?

I will be ordering on Monday, so any and all inputs / opinions are greatly needed.

Thanks!!

I love my EVGA 680i motherboard. Bios definatly needs an update, but I' managed to get to 1849 FSB on stock cooler and voltage, running stable. It did however have a fart where i couldnt overclock. at 1700MHz fsb, it will not post. but once you get back to the 1800's it posts fine. im hoping i can find another one of these gaps and maybe get this babey stable at 2000Mhz +. more detail, here

my experiance with this mainboard has been nothing but pleasent. and i think this is just another 7900 phonomina, in that all the bad motherboards are reported, but the good ones sell quietly, and that the vast majority of 680i boards are fine.

I say go for it.

?? I know there is more than one opinion :)

Anybody else have this stepping, or know anything else about it?

How can I find the Stepping, Week from whats posted on the back?
