Operation Flashpoint 2 Screenies

Operation Flashpoint has to be one of the best games I have ever played.

If those are ingame graphics.....OMG

I am really looking forward to this game. One of my last hopes for a true realistic shooter.

I would imagine they are touched up a bit. Even so, I don't think they will be far from the final game. The dithered view distance looks kind of cool (GTA4 does this now).

I'll definitely pick this up.

These have been out, but just stumbled upon them....

I am blown away at the moment. /emote begins saving for a new gaming rig.;)

Does anyone know what language the site is in and where to automatically translate it?

it's a polish web site, but there's not a whole lot of information there to even bother with a translator.

the only 'important' info i found is this:
-realism is the priority
-USA, China and Russia are the three sides in the game
-the action takes place on an island of approximate size of 220 square kilometers
-over 50 guns (majority will be modable)
-many vehicles ex. HMMWV, LAV-25, M1A2
-Cooperative and VS. multiplayer modes
-in-game mission editor.

Sweet, FP was the only game that I bothered using Map Editor for. Granted, it was a tad buggy, but was fun as heck.

End of the year eh, I hope that it's true. My only Gripe about the first one were the graphics. In areas they felt plain dull.

Same. They destroyed ghost recon with the GRAW series.

Or...they made it actually enjoyable. It all depends on your perspective.

Flashpoint 1985 is one of my favorite games ever. I have high hopes for OFP2.

The pictures are great, but I don't have much faith in the sequel. How close to the original can it be when it has to be dumbed down to a six year olds level to make it a console game?

I think it would be funny if they ported a PC game directly to the console with no optimizations and control scheme changes. Make them navigate PC menus with analogue sticks. No auto aim, small hitboxes. ;)

Thanks for the post and curse you too! ;)

I loved the original so I was glad to hear they are making a sequel. My current PC is a dinosaur (6600GT 128MB vidcard & P4 2.8 CPU) so now I'm finding more and more good PC games I missed out or that are coming out. Now I need to start researching on building a bargain gaming PC.

Oh, I thought Arma was the sequel to Op Flashpoint?

ArmA and OFP 2 are both "sequels" to OFP. There was something about the developer breaking off from the publisher and now there are two games. I though ArmA sucked, mostly due to bugs that made it completely unplayable along with a difficult control scheme. I have higher hopes for OFP 2.

I want a game that maintains the realism, difficulty, and options of OFP but with the polish and ease of use of a game like CoD 4. Hopefully OFP 2 will deliver.

You might want to check out the thread about Ground Branch. It sounds like it might have potential.

Those have to be heavily edited. The depth of field on them is insane. It would rock if that were realy ingame, but it could just be like a crysis.

someone smack me! i hope those are not CG. it would be nice to have a battlefield type game again with squads, but without the BS and bugs.

If this is in-game I wonder if the system requirements are on par like Crysis? Ground Branch models of the infantry men look good but from the first pic here it looks like Delta Force game, meh.
Hopefully it's not.

That screenshot may be in-game engine but it looks like a cutscene to me.

Oh boy!!
I hope this is better than ARMA, I need a new Flashpoint fix. (maybe its tims for a reinstall of the first one)

I call BS that those are in game. They look exactly like the teaser videos they have released and I think there is no way its 100% in-game. Looks like they are heavily edited.

I honestly don't know if they are in game or not. I merely posted what I found. After having seen Crysis with custom configs, I do not doubt that those could be gameplay shots. However, they could also be cutscenes or on $4000 gaming rigs at the studios.

We shall see.

Those are all captures from the teaser video and none look like they are actually in game.

If they would have shown some screen grab from the player's point of view we could really tell then. But OPFP was more about simulated realism over flash. I wouldn't mind both mind you but gameplay is still paramount. Let's hope they make a worthy successor.

PC Gamer interview said:
PC Gamer: You're developing it for the PC and the next-gen consoles. How does this influence your thoughts and approach to the game?

Andy: Supporting the PC community and fans is key for us, we want to make the game those guys have been waiting for, not PC console port with Operation Flashpoint slapped on the front.

I'm liking this game more and more.

"The visual and technical targets for OFP2 are incredibly ambitious, I don’t want to give too much away at this point, but when I saw our internal Neon engine evolve into what we saw visually with DIRT, it became apparent just how much we could accomplish, it’s a very exciting time for us."

I dunno. Sounds pretty good to me.:)

"I’ve heard a rumour about a 5000 polygon hand grenade, I’ll leave it at that."

Yep. Definately sounds good.:eek::cool::D

These shots are in a magazine and the shots are not "actually" from the game. They are target shots on what they hope to acheive ingame.

Those images are target renders, not in-game. There hasn't been any real media released yet despite the game supposedly being slated for release later this year.

the graphics don't make the game. Flashpoints graphics are kinda bleh and even silly at times (the people) but the gameplay 100% overshadows all that and when they are trying to render kilometers of stuff all the time, I'd rather take decent graphics and emersion over 'mommy look at the light show'

ARMA is a step up over flashpoint graphic wise though I totally don't like the Iron sights in it. Some of them are impossible to use because the graphics (like the AKs)

I dont know.....but imo ArmA looks very good graphic wise and realistic, I always find myself stopping while playing just to take a look at the horizon across a valley of rolling hills just to take in the scenery. My view distance set at 10000, very high on all details and 8x AF, 5x AA. Me and my friend just did a mission that took us a few hours clearing some towns, we ended up playing for most of the day and the day night cycle in the game is pretty cool to. A nice effect they added in was the time it takes for your eyes to adjust back to the dark after u remove nightvision...pretty cool little things and the game is all moddable. So much user content out there.
