I just finished my first build. I have an Asus A8N-SLI Premium MB, a AMD 64 Athlon 3200+ Venice proc. and a Asus X-Mars cooler. My case is a Aspire X-Plorer ATXB8KLW-SS and has a tempature readout on the lcd. My question is... it idles at 83f at the desktop. Is this a decent temp? I have the temp wire in the HS fins.

yea 83F for the an ambient(ish) temp of the case is fine, mine goes between 84F and 89F depending on load level and ambient air temp.

Also, are any of you familiar with that MB? I want to check to see what cpu temp it is reading. I have only had it for a day, and haven't had a chance to poke around in the BIOS. If not, can you recomend some software that does a good job of monitoring cpu temps.

sorry, last post was a little confusing. Are any of you familiar with that MB and know if it will read cpu temp?

your mobo should have a temp readout of its own, so just go into the bios and go to the part that says PCHealth Status, that will show you the temps fairly acurately of all the major componants of your computer except for your gfx card and HDD.
