I have it downloaded and working great. I am now watching streaming episodes of The Office on my Wii.

Opera makes browsers for everything:p hahaha

cool stuff. Only, do you need to use the remote thing to navigate? That might be kinda funky.

Yeah, you do use the remote to browse. It actually works pretty well for that. The browser itself is rather buggy though.. But, it's only beta at the moment so that is to be expected I suppose.

It's pretty sweet. Youtube functions flawlessly, but I was sad to see Break not play any videos :(

the Flash functionality is pretty excellent. I guess java doesn't work cause Runescape doesnt

Yeah, it works pretty well, even on my little 24" Crt. I'm also posting on it now. If only they would include freaking keyboard support!

Wii ftw! :p

I downloaded it this morning. The browser has a 2"-3" black border on the left, right and top sides of the screen. The zoom functionality is rather annoying. I click plus and it zooms in too far, I click minus and it zooms all the way back out where words are blurry and hard to read.

It's a pretty nice browser, and I can see a certain type of person getting tons of use out of it.

For myself, however, I don't forsee buying the full version when it's out. Sure, it's fun and such, but my desktop and laptop sit about 5 feet from my TV, so I really have little cause to want to use the Wiinternet. If I wanted to relax on the couch with some 'net action, I just pull up my laptop and have at it.

That said, though, it's still very well done, and I was surprised at how good the navigation was and how fast the pages loaded. Good work, Opera!

....you have to, buy it?wtf

It's supposedly coming out in March and will be free until June, when they'll start charging 5 bucks.

This is great. Glad to hear Flash has functionality.

Now to go find myself a web interface for Foobar.

This is actually awesome. I like watching youtube videos on it, did that for about 20 min this morning. Being able to open a youtube video so everyone can watch at school will be sweet as hell when i go back.

This system gets better by the day

I think the functionality is great as well, though obviously it will be a bit longer before it exits the beta stage.

I was thinking about ways to increase screen real-estate, and thought that if they mapped the forward, backward, stop, and home functions to the d-pad you could have an option to turn off the couple inch bar at the bottom of the screen. Some nice leisurely browsing, and it will be nice to do that from my bed :D

Is anyone else having trouble connecting to the Wii Shop Channel?

I'm sure the servers getting hammered... but that lip-ring looking thing keeps spinning and spinning for like 15 mins...

I just downloaded it about half an hour ago with no problems.

You might want to check your connection.

It's the same connection I'm on my laptop with so not sure... maybe I should just turn it off and try again...

It's also possible that Nintendo has multiple servers in the US and yours is overloaded while mine is not.

Quite possible as I live in a high-tech city and a college town... I'm sure there are tons of Wii's...

Although most of the students went home for the holidays already...

Ok... is it not taking up the whole screen for anyone else?

There's like an inch of black on all 4 sides...

I'm getting that, too. Must be standard (at least with the composite video I'm using).

yeah, i think it falls under the 'beta' status. we'll see when the little things get ironed out whats what. maybe they'll include the d-pad functionality so we don't need the big bar at the bottom!

youtube should work....the test video i used with donald trump was from youtube. the browser is still beta software though, so i wouldn't be surprised if it was a bug during that session.

you tube works fine. Break.com doesn't though.

I watched a clip on youtube and it was...okay. That browser bar at the bottom is obnoxious. Anyone know of a way to disable it?

Where exactly do I go to download the browser? I tried updating my wii, and that didnt seem to do it...

They did that to account for overscan on a variety of different TVs. I myself hope they include an option to calibrate this on the final version.

posting on my wii. this is pretty cool but i can not wait till they iron out all the bugs.

Yeah, it is pretty buggy, mine froze about 5 times last night and I had to get up to restart the system. This was just with normal myspace/youtube browsing too.

Why does everyone refer to this thing as Opera browser? Is it really that unknown? I have been using it almost 100% of the time since it went free a year ago.

i think a lot of people never really knew Opera was another browser....it is pretty minor to be honest.

Opera is the best browser ever created.
