Has anyone opened up the panel to check out the inside? I am getting distortion through the DVI-D cable only and not through the VGA cable, so I wanted to open it up and see if there could possibly be some sort of loose connection. Before anyone asks, yes I have exhaustively tested every other possibility for causing this problem, but I have concluded that the monitor is indeed at fault. If anyone has any recommendations before I take this thing apart feel free to speak up.

No warranty on it??????

Send it back, once you open it, its yours baby !!!!

How can they tell if you've opened it? (Possibly very dumb question)

I know you've said that you done exhaustive testing, but I have to ask anyways. Have you considered the possibility of a faulty dvi output on the videocard. If you tested other monitors with dvi and had no problem, this will have already been eliminated as a possible cause.

Well the odd part is that the problem doesn't arise when I put my old GeForce Ti 4600 in my system. However, I bought a new X850XT and saw the same distortion/noise that I saw with the 6800GT. So, unless by some extremely small chance that both cards have a faulty DVI port and produce the same exact problem, I am going to rule that out. Dell is sending me a new monitor, but what can I do if the new one has dead pixels/backlight issues and I would rather keep the one with faulty DVI ? Can I send back the new one they sent me even though by their standards it isn't defective? This is just a hypothetical situation as I have not yet received the new monitor.

As far as I know, you can send back the replacement. You'd just have to explain to them the situation, obviously.

Not a dumb question at all..I cant honestly answer it though. I just hate to see you get screwed because they found out you opened it.
Dell, from what I have heard is really good with warranty issues, I just hate to see you give them a reason to deny the warranty, thats all. :)
