Opening old Messenger Plus chat logs ???

I switched to a new system and lost my password to my old logs. Is there any chance to open these to see the contents ? They have the .ple extension, my GF was snooping on my comp at the time, and I had to use the encyption but my old password log was lost when I formatted. The files are stored on a cd currently. Any help, or direction to a site that can, would be greatly appreciated.

thanks, it just comes up programming code, or jibberish. The file extension is .ple. Which logs was I hiding ? The ones to my wife of course
