I have a system as follows:

Shuttle SN41G2 (nForce 2 MCP-T chipset)
Barton 2500
2x256 Geil PC3200 (running at 333)
Radeon 9700Pro

Nothing overclocked

Ive used Catalyst drivers versions 4.4 to 4.7. Now using 4.6.
All of them fastwrites have been off and a full driver reset was done (following a guide on Rage3d.com) VPURecover has been tried both off AND on

Chipset drivers are Mwarhead's Nforce Remix Rebirth 3.31a For Win2k/XP

Whenever I run openGL Games (Notably Counter-Strike AND Neverwinter nights -- latest updates) I crash. Crash crash crash!

Its not heat, I can run Farcry for 3 hours straight with no problems.

I cant figure out what in the hell could be the problem! Can anyone lend any advice or assistance short of a full windows reformat? It used to work, but just crashed after over an hour or more. Now it happens anytime from 5 minutes to 30 minutes. ARRRRG!

Please help me :(

any error messages?

i had a problem like that, it was a bad stick of ram.

and i also switched to the omega 4.7's

Just locks up and I have to reset it. Once in a while VPU Recover may do something but more often not.

try the omega drivesr just for shits...i like those more than the catylist

odd...i woudl think it has something do with bad OpenGL driver files...Do you have any newer OpenGL games to test, maybe its a counter-strike thing

Its counterstrike AND Neverwinter nights... I dont have anything else openGL right now...we will see when I grab Doom3...

Download some demos....both of those are old games, I have heard of ATI cards having issues with older OpenGL

Same here bud, I crash to my desktop all the time with MOHAA and Jedi Outcast. I check it to see why it crashed and it tells me unknown. This is odd because I can run CoD all day/night with 0 errors. I don' t know how to fix it, tried different drivers with no success either.

Perhaps there is a overheating issue? Check to make sure the fan on your GPU is working...

Well I don't know about him but I have 8 case cans, a week old VGA Silencer and my CPU temp never goes over 48 degrees.

if he can run far cry like a dream, it cant be overheating or issues with a part on his computer coudl it? I am guessing a drive issue? Have you tried a complete format and reintall of windows?

Uh, areny you using a 9700Pro? And I would defiantly reformat. Even reinstalling drivers doesnt overwrite some files, you could have a corrup opengl file.

Yeah id rather hold out for a format if I can...im doing other things than just gaming that formatting would screw up for a bit...eventually I will, im overdue for one but still...

Yes im using a Radeon 9700Pro. Ive done the full nVidia reset, driver cleaner, basically tons and tons of cleaning when reinstalling drivers so its basically from a fresh format. Not100%, but as close as possible. I doubt its corrupted openGL driver, but could be. So far the latest nvidia chipset drivers seem to be working, but i got too scared in doom3 after about 45minutes to keep going. Im a wuss :(

I'll try leaving neverwinter on now overnight, see if that crashes.
