I end up running most of my PC's on just the slide out mobo tray. I found this "case" which looks even better since it includes a drive rails, fan mount, and a table top for the PSU and optical drives.

Most atx cases have plenty of room around the mobo physically, whereas that case seems to only add an inch to each measurement. In other words that case is basically the same size as an atx mobo.
