time to start converting everything to duals...

however. I will have alot of mb's open now.. so.. me thinks i might need some more p3's

currently i have 6x 370 mb's

5x of them are running with 733's
//convert to dual boards fills 2/5 up with 1 733 left over//

so then would be

3x dual 733 mbs (one existing)
1x single 733
1x dual 1ghz mb

so i would have used 3/5 of the new dual boards, and have 5 single cpu's open.. however DR is sending me an 800

so... in the end. final count

3x dual 733
1x dual 1ghz
1x single 733
1x single 800

2x open 370 mbs
4x single 370 mbs..

= need 8 more 370 p3s

All I have in the 370 is a 700 Celery which almost isn't worth it but if you want it I'll try to find it.

Fold on fellas!

This is mostly for me to keep track of all the shit i have. but you can look too :p

Current Farm:

1x AMD Sempron 2800 @ 2.0ghz
1x Compaq Laptop p3 800mhz
1x EMachine Tower p3 1ghz
1x AMD Tbird @ 1.2ghz
5x p3 733mhz (running on single mb's)
1x dual p3 733
1x dual p3 400mhz

Soon to come:
2x 1ghz p3
1x 2200+ (Thanks to BakedON)
1x p3 800 (thanks to DR_K13)
1x (waiting for x to send it, but another 733)

----------------------------------------------------------------

Future Farm:

1x AMD Sempron 2800 @ 2.0ghz
1x Compaq Laptop p3 800mhz
1x EMachine Tower p3 1ghz
1x AMD Tbird @ 1.2ghz
3x dual 733mhz p3
1x dual 1ghz p3
1x dual 400mhz p3
1x AMD XP 2200+
1x single 800mhz p3
1x single 733mhz p3
(17 active cpu's)

with 2x dual 370 mb's open and 4x single 370 mbs open
and probably still waiting on the 1x 733 from my x..

26 active if i can add all of ^^^

Something funny.. and something my friend pointed out:

T.C. says:
heh. and I thought you said you were done with it. pfft
Travis says:
yea. damnit.
Travis says:
i thought i was.
Travis says:
like i said. "oops"
Travis says:
so all in all, if i keep everything and get everything running. 26 active
T.C. says:
no, oops is like tripping over a crack in the sidewalk
T.C. says:
you can't "accidentally" win an ebay auction
T.C. says:
hehe

K*, this is the chip, it has some crud on it (that I can't seem to get off) but it posted for me the other day so it should be fine. Thought I'd let you know before we talked about sending it and how to spell my folding name for that boxen ;)

Fold on fellas!

I've got a matching pair of P3-550 s370 chips. Pay shipping and they're yours since I'll never use them here.

Sounds good, ill send you a PM.

also managed to pick up
( socket 370 ) 733 PENTIUM 3 133 fsb
( socket 370 ) 866 PENTIUM 3 133 fsb
from someone in the fs/ft thread..

soon i will need to rent another apt.. so i can have some peace and quiet now and then! :)

no offense intended, but...

just how good are P-3 dually systems for F@H?

I have a single P-3 733Mhz doing the no-time-limit work units.

Is it worth the trouble?

thanks!

733's are fast enough to run normal work units, in fact about half of mine right now have 600 pointers on them (takes approx 7 days to finish), they are not super fast, but they still get the work done :)

Yeah, I've got an 850 that's crunching a 600 pointer. It takes about 8 days, but it still comes back in time. 75 PPD according to EM3.

K*, I'll throw that chip in my HTPC tonight and make sure it posts before I send it. I'll PM you with results.

Fold on fellas!

on your p-3 dually, are you doing something special in order to run two copies of F@H at the same time?

and are all dually CPUs the same in regards to running more than one copy of F@H?

(I'm not considering dual cores, but they should be treated the same as dual processor, right?)

thanks again

You will need 2x copies of F@H (each in their own folder) and then during config, you set one to Machine ID: 1 and the other to Machine ID: 2 and you are all set.

Jeez, $8 each. There must be something wrong with those... VRMs maybe? They've got the slots for them.

They should still be stable enough without the VRMs though.

I have no idea, once i get them in hand I can play with them and get it all sorted out :)

75/24/0.85 = 3.67 PpHpG.
My AMD MP's fold 600 pointers at around 3.4-3.6 PpHpG so the P3's aren't that bad.
Its more going to be the Points per Hour per Kilowatt thats going to determine if they are worth running or not, not just the speed.

Ps. My Opterons can fold a 600 pointer at around 4.5 PpHpG.

Luck.......... :D

I found a 2nd 700 Celery, not sure if you can run them in one of your dualy's or not but I'll test them when I wake up tomorrow. Thought I'd get you excited.

My good'ness, that a lot of PPD. Is it a slot P3 or a socket?
I have a slot P3 800mhz which averages 45PPD (EMIII), with no one using it. Darn I feel gipped.

On a side note, my opteron 252 puts out 345PPD(200watts), so i guess that equates to 5.53 PpHpG
whereas my intel PentiumM 1.5Ghz puts out 225PPD, so 6.25PpHpG... and at 30watts ^_^, YE HA!

~Full Fold Forward (say that 3x fast)

Oooh more cpu power :)

well if i cant match it with something, i still will have a few single boards open probably

It's a socket, and a shitty ass Dell at that. The 600 pointers are much more efficient than regular WUs though on the P3, don't forget that.

Ah, mine was also a Dell (good old XPS_T800r), though I upgraded it a tad bit :D . I don't have Big work units enabled because I was afraid it would take too long to complete.... but I'll give it a shoot if the point diffrence is that much. Now I just have to upgrade to version 5.

~Thanks
