I sincerely hope you've heard of (and taken advantage of) the Hope credit. And if you've used up your two years from that, make sure you deduct it from your income. And if you've never used the Hope credit, you can apply for it retroactively!roftranspo said:but i dont get to write off tuition this year26000 from my wife's tuition was ALWAYS good

Yeah, probably not going to max it out for 2005, but will get close with the tax refund going there...Mohonri said:j/k--Sticking it in a good Roth (and maxing your yearly contribution) is about the smartest thing you can do. We know for sure that Social Security won't be paying for us when we retire, thanks to our overproductive grandparents (side note--my parents are too old for that generation, and my oldest sister arrived a year too late, and I turn 25 tomorrow).

Hope credit--you deduct your tuition from the amount of taxes you owe. Not from your income (that's a different thing), from your taxes. REALLY good stuff. And all you have to do is fill out a 1-page form. You can claim the Hope credit two years, and after that, you can only deduct tuition from your income.roftranspo said:Hope credit? Whats that?

Thanks...i will check it out...yea...i have only been doing it from incomeMohonri said:Hope credit--you deduct your tuition from the amount of taxes you owe.
