What the heck. So I just noticed that Windows is only reporting 4Gb out of 8Gb of physical memory installed on my i7 - 870, with Windows 7 64 Bit. Did one of my megabytes get lost somewhere?

Strange, just rebooted and even the BIOS is only reporting 4Gb of usable memory. What gives?

Side note, computer just went to the user login screen; after entering my password it went to a light blueish, almost white screen. Stayed that way for a minute or two, then computer just rebooted. Typing from my laptop now. Wonder if one of my RAM modules just went bad on me or something.

edit
Computer booted without issues this time.

edit ii
CPUID shows 8Gb total. Shows 4GB in slot 1 and 4Gb in slot 3. Windows task manager is still reporting only 4Gb total though.

Attempting to reseat the ram modules, see if that cures the problem.

Fixed it, apparently when I installed my new cooler it loosened one of the modules a little. Gotta get me a slimmer 120mm fan so it's not resting on the module I suppose.

Thanks for the help and support everyone.
