Hey guys,

Just picked up an Onkyo TX-DS595 at a local electronics store for cheap. First of all, I'm guessing that I could connect it via optical cable to my Audigy 2 ZS Platinum front panel's optical output port and then be able to listen to computer audio through my Paradigm-speaker based home theater system (which will be connected to the TX-DS595)....do correct if I'm wrong, though.

Secondly, the receiver did not come with a remote. Anybody know of any uber-sweet universal remotes that work well with this particular receiver? Either that or would anyone be willing to sell me their's? (RC-447M is the model #) :p

Would appreciate any input you guys could give me (you [H] people rawk). :D

yes you can coonnect it through the front bay if you want, another option is to connect it VIA digital output from the back, with a 1/8" mini plug availible at radioshack to an RCA and the other end of the rca to the coax on the receiver. Either is fine.

best hookup is usin the creative labs home theater cable for multi-channel inputs

Awesome, thanks much.

Any recommendations for a universal remote for this particular model?

No its not, stick with the digital out.

You can call Onkyo and order a remote from them.

Plz be more informed........ Sorry if I was unclear

Well to get all 5-7.1 channels to work for gamesyou would.
My current setup is a 7.1 yamaha recievier and 4x polk r30s and a csi25 and audigy2zs. I use optical digital out for movies and let the reciever decode the true 5.1 or 6.1 or 7.1, and use multi-channel analog inputs via the soundblaster hometheater cable to get the full eax and surround in games. If you use optical only you get stereo sound. At least in my setup.

This is the best of both worlds. Let the card decode EAX and surround in games, and let the Reciever decode the dts, dtses, dd, ddex

Let's ask the op is he is gonna play games with it first..... But that's true, using both digital and multichannel would be the way to go for both worlds...

I didn't mean to sound snippy... He said he wanted to play music, so digital would be the way to go but yes the multi-channel would be the best way for games.

And where might I purchase such an item?

To answer earlier posts, I plan on gaming, listening to classical music ( :p ), and watching movies.
