Hi, I am still using a prehistoric CRT monitor at home. I'll be getting my own place in about a year from today and need your advices.

Are there quality 20" and above LCD displays that can also be used as a television monitor? If so, what are the top of the lines as of today? And are you able to hook up a Sony Playstation 2 console and play with the LCD display?

And is there a feature that allows the LCD to have a Picture in Picture (PIP), able to watch the tv broadcast (tuner installed) with a small PIP of the pc desktop?

You see where I'm going. I don't want a television monitor due to the limited living space. Thanks for looking!

Sony MFM-HT205? don't know much about it, but i've heard decent things... rather expensive though. or you could just buy any 20' lcd and buy a seperate tv tuner. some of the dells have pip.

So you're planning to get the monitor in a year when you get the new place? I'm not sure I understand why you brought that up...?

If you're planning to get it now, I would get a 20" widescreen monitor and double it as your TV. If you have cable or satelite you could probably get a channel switching box if you dont have one already, eliminating the need for a tuner (since the cable box is a tuner).

If you're planning to get it in a year, then come back here in a year cause everything will have changed by then.
