So they have severely limited our internet access at work, we work 24 hour shifts, so that's not going to fly. They won't allow us to buy our own line, so the only choice we have is accessing the school's wifi network. The school is 900 ft, line of sight, from the top of our garage. I don't know that the school will allow us to put an air bridge, but they allow us to access their network. Is there any solution that would work for us? We can do anything hardware wise on our side, but nothing on the school's side.

Cheap solution: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-make-a-wifi-antenna-out-of-a-pringles-can-nb/

More expensive: https://www.amazon.com/USB-Yagi-directional-Antenna-802-11n-2200mW/dp/B003LLS5JI

Either one MIGHT work (the 2nd is far more likely), it depends a lot on the school's APs, if you have a clear LOS directly to an AP, and the noise environment.

There's a 4 lane highway in between and maybe a single tree. It has to be mounted outside, on the roof, however.

Couple hundred, I have an extra wifi router that'll be used as a repeater inside.

Well, I'd go with what I posted if it was me. You'll just need to figure out antenna mounting and wiring to get things run from the roof to indoors.

See if you can get a second opinion on here before you drop the cash though.

Even a ubiquiti nano station should be able to reach that distance and it is an all in one unit (no external antenna needed)
