One HDMI source to Two HDMI Screens

Hi,

I have a laptop with HDMI I want to use as single source for two different screens.
One is a Flat Screen and one is a normal pc Screen. Both have hdmi cables.

I have read several topics but I can't seem to find a clear answer for my problem.

I understand what HDMI switch and splitte does.
I am not interested in simultaneous output, so the splitter is not my choice.
HDMI Switch states multiple inputs for one HDMI output.

Can I use a switch with its functionality reversed? Plug the laptop in the output and the screens in the input?

Thank you

Thanks.

I'm just looking for a splitter with switch. Nothing that splits the actual signal. Just a switch to select which screen is going actually to be connected with the laptop.

Thanks.

I'm also looking for something like this but for dual link DVI and not HDMI

I'm interested in pretty much the same thing. In my situation I want to have the second output on my video card either driving my second display or driving my TV. I don't need it to drive both at the same time.

Currently I'm changing cables whenever I want to watch a movie on the TV, and that gets old really quick.

At last another one!!!

I'm starting to think I'm crazy for wanting such a simple thing.

What would happen if you got some adapters and reversed the direction of one of these passive splitters such that you had the fork side going to two source components and the other side going to a monitor? Would this work assuming you only had one of the two source devices powered at a time?

Isn't that what you want. Sorry, I'm not understanding this correctly. You have one laptop (L) and two screens (A and B) and you want to be able to send the signal from L to A or from L to B?

Can't you do that with a splitter (just turn on only A or B?)

My guess is he wants a splitter with the ability to toggle on/off each output which would be pointless...

Why would it be pointless.
If the devices connected at the output are not entirely the same, why shouldn't I be able to make my laptop understand two different devices without having to plug and unplag cables.

For example, I want my flat screen to get the hdmi output but I don't want that for my pc screen. Some other people might also want different resolutions.
At least my laptop remembers the screen layout settings per device once I connect the cable. Isn't that also a valid expectation?

I just want to select the output. No amplification.

No it wouldn't.

If I plug in my monitor windows runs it at 1920x1200.
If I then unplug it and plug in my TV windows will then adjust that output to 1920x1080.
Go back to monitor, 1920x1200.

I'm pretty sure that having just a splitter in there with both displays hooked up would prevent that behavior. I know that if they were ever both turned on at the same time it definitely would.

so let me get this straight, you want to toggle between two screens and not have them on at the same time?

Well I guess I never really played with different resolutions since every monitor/TV in the house is only capable of 1080p so switchable splitter doesn't really do me any good.

If anybody has bought the devide outside US please say something. Amazon doesn't deliver and the manufacturer charges 20+ euro for delivery charges.
