I'm currently building a disc duplicator and I'd like to have access to its drive via USB so I can upload and download disc images to/from it.

Is there a way to utilize some sort of switch to select where the I/O of a given drive is going to go, so I could select one position for it to go to the duplication controller card and select the second to have it go to an IDE->USB 2.0 converter?

Thanks in advance for looking, bumps and advice appreciated, including alternate solutions (thought about skipping the controller card altogether, but sort of like having it standalone and not needing wait for it to boot to get started.
 
possible, but you'd probably have to hack it together yourself. The lack of IDE hotplugging may also require a shutdown in between.

Why not just switch the USB between the duplicator and your pc?
 
I don't mind the shutdown, in theory I'd just boot the thing up with the USB option to retrieve disc images. I finally found one for ACARD's controller, the AEC-4420p. It knocks me back down to a 9 bay duplicator, but I'm ok with that.
