this was my one day mod that took two days

anyway here are the pics

first i cut the fan out in the front

question: what purpose does having the hds on the bottom? Is it just for space? I kinda like it.

yes it was for space and allso i am waiting for my plexi to get there so i can make a custom cage for them allso

I would place the harddrives just a little off the bottom
If you should get a leak, then they aren't wet instantly (and toast)
 
im sure it isnt very quiet/good for them to be on the bottom like that as they are susceptible to a lot of vibration. but it doesnt look bad. good job.

why would mounting them on the bottom of the case lead to more vibration?

anyway, its a temp location as the OP will fabricate a Plexiglases mounting bay soon enough.

No, leaving them loose makes them more susceptable to vibrations, as they're free to bounce around ;).

It's a cool idea, having 4 HDs attached on the bottom... in a custom cage ;).
 
Yeah I think some kind of bracket for elevating the hdd's is ideal, and would be the final touch in making this mod look REALLY clean. I doubt you've left the hdds sliding around down there.

When I think of how to help lift the hdds up off the floor, I keep thinking... shock/riser pads?
But you can probably implement something cheaper and cleaner, something that you can screw the drives into, probably into the underside of the hdds.
But you dont want to have to turn the case upside-down to unscrew your drives, so there's that to worry about.

Maybe some 5.25" to 3.5" conversion mounting brackets?
 
oh ok so i should put it in the first post:

The Raptors are not loose as they would shake the crap out of the case everytime they would seek for something

so I made four holes each and used 4 little rubber groumets so there is no vibration

allso when my plexi gets here i am makeing them a nice rack so they can get some more air to breath :)
