The age old question I found a SB Live, im not an audiophile but the KM400 has crappy ac'97 not HD audio so would a live be better lol since i found it in a closet
 
Really? That's kinda weak there's probably still tons of those things around.
 
Your Live! will sound better than the on-board sound on that old motherboard. There is lots of info on how to get your Live card to work with Windows 7 out there. I know it's possible with 32bit Win7 for sure, not so sure about 64bit.

If you were talking about a current board with something like the Realtek ALC889A chip I would say leave the Live out of the system.
