I have a MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum running onboard sound to my logitecs would it be better to use a creative audigy 1 i have? Will games take a hit on performance. for some reason BF2 didnt sound to good. :(

bf2 was scratchy with my on board sound .. i just got audigy 2 zs .. sounds great now ..

Use the audigy for sure!! Onboard will sound like tin cans with no bass, even with good speakers.

I have Onboard Realtek 7.1 and I use 10 Year old Sony speakers setup for Stereo, 2x50Watt Cube Satellites, and 2x100Watt floorstanding.
It sounds better than my friends Audigy 2 ZS Platinum with 5.1 Altec Lansing.

Oh and I have this going as following...
Computer --> 18 Year Old Hitatchi Amplifier --> Speakers.

Onboard audio sounds fine, it just doesn't have all those advanced features that 95% of people don't use.

Good speakers and a mediocre sound card will sound better than mediocre speakers and a good sound card.

I was just posting about the other guy saying "Tin Cans"

Thanks for saying I have good speakers :) I love them, and they were free!

Can't beat free audio gear. I got some old Technics and Audio Research floorstanders for free and they sound much better than my Z560s.

As for the OP, you should probably use the Audigy. It will have hardware support for BF2.

How the heck do you guys use floorstanding speakers at a desk?

Other than put the desk about three feet away from the speakers and seriously toe them in, I have no idea. Meh, Maybe I'd do it if I had the space.
