Onboard DC power vs separate power board

I recently purchased a motherboard that has a DC power in jack:

My case also came with a DC to DC power board (meaning it had its own power jack) and I was going to connect that power board to my motherboard via a 4 pin ATX connector.

Unfortunately, I can't get the motherboard to power on using the power board that came with my case. I can get it to work if i plug it in directly to the motherboard.

My question is, will it hurt my motherboard long term if I use the on board power system over a separate one (this is going to be on 24/7)

Thanks.

As long as whatever voltage your board is expecting to be supplied with really is being supplied, then you shouldn't really have any issues with hurting anything on the motherboard itself per se. If the power supply is under sized (mending it supplies the correct voltage but isnt rated to supply the amperes needed during use) then the power supply will run hot and eventually fail. Its theoretically possible a power supply failure could damage the motherboard in some fashion in a scenario as I outlined, but moral of the story is as long as the power supply is rated to handle the load it shouldn't make any difference regardless on which one you use.
