Onboard audio crackles

I have an ASUS P5KPL-CM motherboard which I bought about two weeks ago. Since upgrading from my old ASUS motherboard (cant remember model) I have some problems with the onboard audio. When I play games like Brothers in Arms, whenever I shoot, someone talks or if there is an explosion the audio crackles. Also when listening to music on beatport.com and fast forward a song the same thing happens. Even when I listen to an mp3 on my computer its crackles but not as much as it does in games and on beatport.com. I never had problems like this with my old motherboard.

I am using the exact same hardware as I did with the previous motherboard. My speakers are Logitech Z-640. I also have the latest audio drivers.

Any solutions?

Thanks

Crackling audio is a problem that's been reported with onboard audio. My P5 board had some crackling audio so I added a dedicated sound card.

I can assure you that peace of mind is worth the small investment in an aftermarket sound card.

...However, this problem may not go away with just another sound card. There could be something else causing the distortion. The oddest thing I've ever seen cause audio distortion was a USB wireless adapter--I confirmed it on 3 machines, it would cause the audio to slow down and stutter every few minutes.
