Hola, im hoping someone can help me out here. I have an Asus P5GD1 motherboard which has an ALC861 RealTek Codec on it for sound. It has spdif out, and the sound works and sounds great out of my reciever....however, it has serious user interface issues. I seem to be unable to control the SPDIF output volume from my computer what so ever. Even when i click mute all....it doesnt control it....keeps right on playing. I have 5.10.0.5033 drivers...the newest i can find, ive also used every other version of the driver. If someone can help me figure out how to control the spdif volume from windows, that would be great (for some reason in windows audio control the spdif volume control is blocked out)

I'm not 100% sure but I believe that the windows volume control is for the analog outputs ONLY. But correct me if I'm wrong.
 
You would think maybe this was true, but with my A7N8X deluxe mobo...nforce2....the onboard sound was controlled masterfully by all windows audio control...i dunno if thats great drivers or what....but the nforce2 onboard sound was sooooo much better controled than this new stuff
