Onbard video conflict

Okay so here's the deal. I have this Shuttle, the SN41GV3 or something like that... with the FN41 mainboard and it has onboard video, the Geforce 4 MX. I also have a Radeon 9800 AIW. Now when I plug the Radeon into the AGP slot and turn on the computer the hard drives spin the lights go on, but there is no signal to the monitor. I can't even see a boot screen. If I try to plug the monitor into the onboard nothing happens. Yet if I cut the power to the computer take out the Radeon card and just try to use the Onbord video it works fine. Now I'm not quite sure what to do to get the Radeon working. I can't seem to find a place in the BIOS where it gives the option to disable the onboard video. I'm assuming this is an IRQ error but my knowledge on the subject is small. Any ideas would be much appreciated.
 
I had the same problem with my parent's computer. They have a crappy Syntax motherboard and if there was card in the computer, it would not work period.

Good luck with that cause I gave up after three days of messing with it.

It might help if you list what Bios are being used.
 
The fact that this mainboard has an AGP slot would suggest that there's a way to disable the onboard video. If it's not in the BIOS, then perhaps there's a jumper or something on the mainboard itself.

What does the manual say?
 
Edit: Sorry didnt read your entire thread. I think I have the same bios as you. I installed a 9800pro and didnt have to disable the onboard video at all. Check in your bios and make sure its set to AGP 4x or 8x, Aperature size is at 128 etc.. I am pritty sure your problem is related to either your bios being improperly configured or the a jumper on your motherboard is improperly set. By the way what kind of power supply do you have? Also I know it seems silly but when installing the Pro make sure your card is fully seated in the AGP slot.
 
yeah make sure its seated and have the power plug in the card....do you know for sure that this card works?...have you tryed it out in anouther system?
 
Okay after doing a lot of research and experimenting I'm not sure what else to do. I know the card works because I took it out of my previous box which ran the same ram and proc, except on a DFI lanparty. It apparently doesn't seem to be a video conflict cause I threw a 9600 into it and it worked just fine. When I have the 9800 in it doesn't post. But I found that if I power up without the power cable plugged into the 9800 and wait till the "Your card's power is not connected" error. plug it in hot, then restart the thing posts. It's very strange, right now I just decided to run the onboard for the moment but I'd like to get the thing working if possible.
