Long story short,

Fileserver has been running fine for the longest of times, in fact I haven't noticed any hickups at all. This evening I SSH:d in to do some mundane tasks and I find these entries in the root of the filesystem, which I have never seen before.

Current running release of omnios is:
uname -r
5.11

cat /etc/release
OmniOS v11 r151008

What bugs me is that the problems seem to have appeared around 10th december and intermittently been coming and going ever since then. I can't recall doing something "special" with the system. Ram is fine (no errors in memtest etc), stability is fine, there's no drive problems (long/short test on drives are all OK). Can saturate all 5 gbit ethernet ports w/o problem what so ever... Can't find any complaints in logs either. So, I'm stumped as these looks like crash dumps.

Anyone seen and fixed this behaviour before or has pointers where to start looking?

I don't know much about Linux, but a quick Google is pointing at samba crashing and creating a dump file. Could be way off though.
