OMG!

My GPU was in the early 50's Celsius a few minutes ago, now its 93! WTF!? Is it the temperature meter thing malfunctioning or what? This is bad. I wasn't even playing any game, just browsing this forum.

What temp software/hardware you using to get that temp? Nvidia's console?

Yes, I'm not seeing any artifacts either. I just modded my case's cooling cause it was sitting in the high 80's after some CSS, and now its this.

Fan's not spinning at all. Guess I found our culprit. WTF I just bought this card like three months ago  Any suggestions?

RMA

I have heard a few people here mention that they have RMA'd a BFG product like that 7950GT your using, and received a GTX in its place. I would probably look to that as an option. ;)

I guess that is what I will do. F*CK man, I don't wanna go back to my 6600 :( I don' think the fan even works on that POS either.

It's Norwood Micro, but nvm the fan is fine, just got a bit of dust in it, don't feel like messing with it. BTW I bought the 7950 on newegg, does that make any difference in an RMA?

I would actually love to buy that BFG mobo off your hands once you're done with it. Pwetty pwease? ;)

We'll see lol

I dunno if I wanna RMA this, I'll probably be upgrading soon anyway to something better, anyone have any idea for a ghetto cooling setup in the meantime?

It's probably just some software/driver problems. My 7600GT was reading at like 75 degrees one day and i was like.. wtf.. I opened the case and screwed around with everything for a while, then decided maybe it was just reading wrong. I have it set up as a dual boot with X64 so i went in there and then it was reading like 30C or something. So basically it was the drivers. I've recently reformatted and what not and now it reads idle at 50C. So... *shrugs*

I think your card is probably fine.

The fan isn't spinning, but I took one of the two fans from the back of my case and set it up, using home made twisty ties (the cords from a dead 80mm fan) and now its sitting in the high 50's. Much better than 93.

You'd be better RMA'ing it than trying to Macgyvering a rig.

You could check to see if they have a ship first option where they ship you the new card, and once you have it you ship them the old card. That way you're never without it.

Two of the last 3 cards i've owned (gainward gf4 ti4200 and radeon 9600xt) have both had stock fans die on me almost one year to the day I bought them. Both were replaced with aftermarket fans and worked fine.

I'll look into buying an after market cooler for this thing, but until then I have an 80mm fan handing there and it cools it almost as well as the stock cooler, so things'll be fine.
