so i recently sent my motherboard back for a return and i accidently sent back the protective cover for my processor with it. right now its in a protective bag that came with it without the protective cover on the processor. should i just replace my processor now to or what should i do?

As long as its sitting in the static free bag it should be fine, just dont touch the contacts.

It'll be fine... Man, the things I've done to a processor are extensive... I've yet to kill one too! I left an A64 3000+ on my carpet for... about a month while waiting for my board to come back...

Keep it in the bag, and be careful not to crush it ;)

another thing, u have to read my post here.

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1137725

when the comp booted up, after the tracking memory it sayd
Comp is in Safe mode
Please reset processor and memory frequency

i then went into bios and set to defualts and it went away, comp still wouldnt boot.
but do u think the processor was damaged?

i once dropped a pentium 4 on a hardwood floor and it ran like a champ

these things are more durable then they are made out to be

can som1 please awnesr if i should return it or not because 2day is the last day i can request an rma for it.

that does not sound anything like a cpu problem. i would keep it. when you get your mainboard back and put your machine back together, boot into safe mode and uninstall ntune. by the way - saved -

and dont screw around with settings that you have no idea what they do. get it up into windows on default. then overclock and/or set up your fans in bios. leave the windows based stuff for guys that do not have those options in bios.
