I came home today to find my server locked up.
Nothing on reboot.
Left the drive sit and cool off for a while (it was kinda hot in the office).
Tried again, got to the first bar on the win2k bootup screen. Then a registry error.

So I try to hook it up slave on a another PC, that computer won't boot with it even attached as a secondary harddrive. Nice clicking noise every few seconds. (stuck head)

So my question... Has anyone actually had luck with the "freezer" trick?

Ok, i think the drive is pretty much toast.
Tried freezer trick, still clicking and preventing a boot up. :-P

I think I might let the drive warm up again and give it another shot, it's a pretty muggy night here so the outside of the drive pretty much frosted over when it came out of the freezer.

I had the same problem about a month ago.

I used a combination of knoppix and bart pe to recover as much as i could of the drive

transfered the "Saved" parts of the drive and wiped the harddrive

freezer trick <--- me dunno
