The Olevia 427V showed up in my local Office Depot ad for only $500. It's a 24" widescreen with a variety of inputs and 720p. My family really should be getting an HDTV, and I'm wondering if this would be a good choice. Here's its Newegg page.

26" widescreen HDTV's sold for ~$600 on last year's black monday. These days you can buy a 32" 720p LCD including tuner for the same price. And they'll be cheaper black monday, if you can wait.

Keep in mind that most of the stuff on TV is 4:3. You divide by 1.22, so a 24" widescreen has the same viewing area as a 20" 4:3. That's pretty small.

If it is for a family watching tv that is far too small....you'll want 27" bare minimum. It would make a great bedroom/dorm tv however.

I misposted. It's 27" and 16:9. Pretty huge, but it looks like we won't be getting it. Thanks for your input, though, guys.

i however, did get one on black friday for 399
