OLED

Saw it as CES last month at the Sony booth and it looked great. I talked with both sony reps and kodak (created the tech) reps in regards to OLED and it still has a few issues that are holding it back. THe biggest being that the blue LED only lasts about 1000 hours which is not a long enough life span for it to be viable. Also mass production is ridiculously expensive at this point.

Edit: I didnt watch the video before I posted. That was the set up I saw at CES that i was referring too. The video doesnt even do it justice. The Sony rep also told me that they had no real idea of if or when the products would be available. Every display there was hand made just for CES.

Yeah, i know its hardly emerged as a technology. The first time i heard about it was for the Optimus Keyboard (http://www.artlebedev.com/everything/optimus/) which was going to be the main reason why the cost of the keyboard would be outlandishly expensive.
My guess is that at the consumer level, this wont reach till 2008.
