I was building a PC earlier with a mid-tower that had a bottom-mounted PSU setup and noticed that my old (2007) Rosewill PSU's cables were almost all too short to run through the "cable management" openings around back and still have enough length to connect to the motherboard. As a result, I had to run most of them straight from the power supply to the motherboard, no re-routing what-so-ever, which obviously resulted in some mighty cruddy cable management. It didn't help that I was using a Micro ATX board, which resulted in even more space between the motherboard and power supply.
Is this a common issue with older power supplies since they were perhaps made with top-mounted PSU setups in mind? And do most, if not all modern power supplies have longer cables since bottom-mounted PSUs are so common nowadays?
