Older machine folding advice please

I have another potential folding candidate machine I want to bring online for [H]. It's an older machine that I recently had to replace a video card in (it's a little-used workstation attached to a scanner that gets sporadic use). Given the following specs:

P4 (single core) 3.0ghz
1GB RAM
Radeon HD5770 1GB vid adapter

What would yield us the most points, the standard client or the GPU client? I know it's a ATI card, but I thought that since it's a recent video card that it might put out more than the single-core CPU.

Thoughts please.

Best idea would be to run GPU2 on the 5770 and then the uni client(you wont get much with SMP) on the CPU.

If you do try to fold on the 5770 results could be weird as the ATI client is very CPU heavy and I don't know if a P4 would be able to keep up. Still it would probably net more points than running the unicore client, probably worth giving it a shot.

My unicore client P4 2.6 Ghz turned in a WU today and got 8 points. It took a little more than a day to crank that out so 5 to 6 PPD on my 2.6 GHz P4!
(It had been doing nothing else the whole time.)

So hopefully the 5770 can do better than that!

The cool thing is we might just beat evga to 4 billion by 5 points :p

Something is wrong then. Stanford's benchmark machine is a 2.8 GHz P4 and they value it at 110 PPD. My 3.0 GHz P4 does 180 PPD.

My advice is to use only the GPU client so the GPU have the CPU all for itself.

Something more than it is an HP POS!

Run GPU2 on the 5770. You didn't say what OS you're running. If it's Vista or Win 7 then add the environment variables tweak and it won't hit your CPU too much. Then you can run the CPU client too if you want. ;)
