old WD 100G just won't work

I was writing a big video file to it over the weekend..
the next morning the drive was not there. So I rebooted (cold boot) no drive
it will power up...make a loud click then you hear the head searching and clicking and
then it just not there.

I moved it to an external USB housing and of course its the same thing. Spin up clunk...click click wurrrrrrr drive light goes red for about 30 seconds then green idle.

is there any way to get to this drive to see whats up?

if u can find an identical drive for cheap id reccomend swaping PCBs and sometimes thats what the problem was
