Does anyone know how an add in PCI 3DFx Voodoo3 2000 compares to an onbaord ATI 3D Rage Pro AGP 2X? I'm trying to fit together a budget PC for my uncle for 1999 gaming (Red Alert, Jedi Knight Dark Forces II etc.,) from spare parts in my house. Thanks alot. I basically need to know which is better lol :)

Just some more infro :)
I have a choice between two motherbaords (still trying to identify them)
A 300 MHz P2
512MB (256+128+128) SDRAM 66MHz
The video card in question
20GB WD Drive :)
Some sound card
Some CD-ROM
Some PSU
Better than nothing though

I had the ATI 3D Rage Pro AGP 2X 8m in my 6 year old Dell PC with a p3 450Mhz and 128Mb of pc133. It could handle nothing more than Starcraft and i think CS 1.6 (I don't remember if I played it on the old pc), in other words, that graphic card is crap...When I tried playing RON, it said not enough vRAM...

3D Rage Pro
Pixel / Texture Pipelines: 1 x 1
Core Speed: 75 MHz
Fill Rate: 75 MTexels/s
Memory Interface: 64-bit
Memory Speed / Bandwidth: 100 MHz, 0.80 GB/s

Voodoo 3 2000 (16MB)
Pixel / Texture Pipelines: 1 x 2
Core Speed: 143 MHz
Fill Rate: 286 MTexels/s
Memory Interface: 128-bit
Memory Speed / Bandwidth: 143 MHz, 2.28 GB/s

I'd go with the Voodoo :)

Not to mention that the 3Dfx card was actually a complete 3D accelerator for the time, whereas anything with Rage attached to it was a steaming pile of crap (except the Rage 128's that they put in all of those Mac's).
