A long long time ago, I purchased a Asus Maximus Formula for my new computer. It came with a SupremeFX II sound card but I never used it since I had an Auzentech Prelude. I just built a new computer and reused the same Prelude and am giving away the old computer to a family member. I put the SupremeFX II back into the old computer since I want to keep the Prelude for myself
. On the old computer, all the parts are the same as when I had it except the hard drive, DVD burner, and the sound card. I installed W7 64bit on it and everything is fine except for the SupremeFX II drivers. I downloaded the SoundMax drivers from the Asus website and even tried the support CD which I somehow managed to find, but every time I try to update it, I keep getting a message saying something about the sound card not being the right hardware for the driver. I forgot the exact message.
Basically, Asus's drivers can't update their own sound card. Should I just buy a really cheap sound card instead or is there a fix to this?
