Well, I got my hands on an old school Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 17'' monitor. Manufactured Dec 1993! Here's the catch. I have no cables for it. It needs a VGA cable with a male connector on each end, but there looks to be provisions for another connector, which I don't have. I plugged it up (which I thought would make it work since I had the VGA cable) but to no avail. Does anyone have this monitor and knows what it takes to get it working?

Here's what I got:

Am I missing anything?

That's a 13W3 connector -- lots of older Sun systems use those. I have a 1997-era 17" IBM P70 (rebranded Sony) with that connector on the back.

You can get a 13W3 -> VGA (DB15) adapter, or just a cable with a 13W3 at one end and VGA on the other. That's what came with my monitor. Google "13W3" and you'll find a ton of places selling cables and adaptors.
