Old RAID Stuff help - Areca 1261ML & SFF conversion cables

I'm currently running an Areca ARC-1160 (16-ports 4x sff-8470) and found an ARC-1261 (16-port 4x sff-8087) that I wanted to swap up to.

My case uses an SFF-8470 16x3.5" drive backplane. So -- old stuff, I know, but it works.

I bought some 8087 to 8470 cables, hooked up some drives to the new card - and -- nothing. The card boots up, but it doesn't detect drives on any of the 8087 ports. Different cables, different ports - nothing.

So - I'm hoping to get some insight into whether or not this /should/ work at all, and if I'm missing something to get the conversion from 8087 to 8470. Or - if the card itself isn't functional, though I was told that it was when I got it. Unfortunately, I don't have any 8087 breakout cables to try loose drives...

Any and all thoughts are welcome.
