So due to a delay in shipping, all of my new parts except for the PSU have arrived. New motherboard is an EpoX 9NPA+ Ultra, with a 24pin connector. I have my old PSU, which is a 350w (antec or enermax, not sure but one of those) from a few years back, I'm pretty sure it's a 20pin. Can I use this old PSU for the weekend, to get the computer up and running? I don't want to spend money on an adapter for 2 days (don't know where I would get one anyway), but i'd really like to get this machine up and running. Will it work?

Should work ok, so long as you dont have 40 case fans 18 hard drive 6 CD ROM drives etc etc gobbling up the power. I run a 350w Antec on the rig in my sig w/o any problems.

its the system in my sig, only one case fan.

cool, and the 20pin should go into the 24pin no problem?

Don't over-clock anything & just plug the 20-pin ATX in to the 24-pin socket, leaving the other 4-pins uncovered. ;)

well since i'm posting from it, i can now guarantee that it works :D its a good thing too, another 3 days without working computer (at home) might have put me over the edge!

well y cant u overclock it? im about to do the same but i have an ultra X-connect 500w.

Because it would increase current draw,
the mobo expects 24-pin to handle that current & with only 20-pins damage could result.

Running a 20-pin ATX in a 24-pin mobo is a very short-trem solution only.

Scrap the X-Connect if using a DFI N4 mobo!

hmm im confused now i read a thread some where here that 20 pin is ok in 24 pins....just not DFIs

All mobo manufacture's "strongly recommend" native 24-pin ATX with their new 24-pin mobos,
DFI "requires" it! ;)
