I wasn't sure where to post this but since it was a photo I thought this might be a good place to start.

First off the picture was found in a box of junk I had and have no idea where I got it from. I do know that my father is in the picture but I don't know him really so have no idea which guy he is.

Anyways...the photo was rolled up so it was a cylinder. It was near impossible to get a decent scan of it not to mention it is over a foot long.

What I am wondering mainly is how I would go about finding out more info about this picture.

If anybody is interested there is a unedits...other than my poor stiching job version of it here.....but be warned...it is just under 10MB

The pics are linked below. Thanks to Tim_axe

Shayughul - I'm getting a 403 error on the big one, but I figured out it was some kind of hotlink protection thing that did that. So I worked around it and got to the pictures. But they can't be inlined from your server.

I'll host the pictures on my server, because I've been slowly loading that big picture for about 5 minutes now (it's 10MB...that is huge!). I think my server would be able to serve it up much faster, and not have the hotlink problems your server did.

I found this page with some history about that paticular airforcebase. Apparently 1948 was the first year it was known as "Lackland Air Force Base," but I'll give you the source so you can find out more about the base: http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/articles/LL/qbl1.html

More infromation, about the history of the base, can be found in this book:
A Heritage of service : seventy-five years of military aviation at Kelly

If you look at that book, it *might* have some pictures w/ the name of the photographer somewhere in there. Then you could try looking them up and figuring out if any of them took the pictures in this poster. There is probably some record of who took the picture, but I'm not sure if it would be easy to find...perhaps not...

Cheers & Good luck

Edits 1 & 2: The 403 errors ( hotlink protection ) had gone away for some time after your last post (didn't see that post). So your links work now. Or at least did for a while before I edited this post & you removed them... So in short, my post earlier was before you fixed the problem. And this edit was during the time you removed the images...? Cheers again.
