Do you keep old pc's around or get rid of them? I have a couple that are now old tech, but not ancient by any means (e.g. Q6600). The thing is over the last ~6 months I've been buying parts for a new build, and it ended up being a complete replacement.

I know I can get some money for things like the cpu, but it'd be hard to find a buyer for the complete pc, and this was a quality build with a nice psu/case/fans etc which has served me well. Enthusiasts generally don't buy the whole pc and people on CL etc don't care about such things.

So one hand I really don't want to keep stuff around that I don't need, yet I feel attached to it and feel it might serve a purpose as a backup pc, to give to a family member later etc.

Does that make any sense?

What are all the parts you have?

Consider selling the whole PC on eBay. Sometimes you can make quite a bit.

Thanks, I'll give that a try, and probably also post a for sale thread here.
